Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk (or milk)
1 large egg
2 tablespoons melted butter
Orange food coloring
Black food coloring
Whipped cream
Chocolate chips
Fresh fruit (like bananas and strawberries)
Sprinkles
Instructions
Prepare the pancake batter by whisking together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl. In another bowl, combine buttermilk, egg, and melted butter. Mix the wet ingredients with the dry until just combined.
Add food coloring by dividing the batter into two bowls. Add a few drops of orange food coloring to one bowl and black food coloring to the other, mixing until you achieve the desired colors.
Cook pancakes by heating a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Pour small amounts of the orange batter onto the skillet for pumpkin shapes and black batter for ghost shapes. Cook until bubbles form, then flip and cook for an additional minute.
Stack the pancakes, alternating between colors. Use whipped cream to dollop on top, placing chocolate chips as eyes to give the ghosts their faces.
Serve with fresh fruit and colorful sprinkles for a festive touch.
Notes
Mix the batter until just combined to ensure fluffy pancakes. Keep the skillet at medium heat to avoid burning.
