A heartwarming and aromatic dish that transforms chicken thighs into a creamy, flavorful meal with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cilantro for garnish
  • Cooked rice or naan for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken: In a slow cooker, add the chicken thighs, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, garam masala, cumin, coriander, salt, and pepper.
  2. Add the sauce: Pour the tomato sauce over the chicken mixture, ensuring everything is well coated.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and shreds easily.
  4. Incorporate cream and butter: About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the butter and heavy cream.
  5. Shred the chicken: Once cooked, shred the chicken directly in the sauce and mix until well combined.
  6. Serve: Dish the butter chicken over cooked rice or with naan, garnishing with fresh cilantro.

Notes

For a healthier alternative, you can replace heavy cream with coconut milk. Ensure chicken thighs are evenly sized for consistent cooking.
